The purpose of this forum is to allow members of the public to offer feedback and constructive criticism of this past June’s Knoxville PrideFest while it is still fresh in everyone’s mind. We would also like suggestions on next year’s PrideFest and would like to create opportunities for volunteers for next year.

Please come next Thursday. Tell us what we did right. Tell us what we did wrong. Tell us what you want next year. PrideFest is FOR YOU, not for us. So please, come be involved!

POWER

We get power for the booths primarily from the 12 lamp posts that are up and down market square. Obviously not everyone will be adjacent to a pole (and not every pole works) so please plan on bringing 2 things: a heavy duty extention cord (~40 feet) and one or more powerstrips. It would be a good idea to put your name on both. We’ll likely need to put one powerstrip at each pole and possibly another down the line somewhere. It wasn’t a big issue last year, but it seems that a lot more of you have indicated a need for power so I want us all prepared. If you have special power needs (higher voltages or more than 15Amps of power) Please contact me ASAP so that I can work with the city and try to accommodate you.

TABLES\CHAIRS\TENTS

As those of you who atteneded PrideFest ’10 will no doubt remember, we struggled to get all the booths and especially the rental tents set up in time for the festival. My #1 priority for this year is to make that process smoother. To that end we have switched event rental companies and worked closely with them to ensure that our setup requirements are understood. A rep from the company will be there to ensure that tables and chairs (1 table and 2 chairs per booth) are set up FIRST and then that the tent setup can be completed in the time we have available (30 minutes).

Looking over my spreadsheet today I see that most vendors indicated that they are bringing a tent, however very few have indicated that they need to rent a tent. If you want to rent a tent (and have it set up by the events company) you must contact me by 7:00pm Friday (6/17).

MetroPulse, McNabb, and GyrlGroove are the ONLY vendors who have tent rentals at this point. If you feel that you should be (or want to be) on that list you need to contact me by 7:00 pm Friday June 17th. If I’ve not heard from you by then I’ll assume you’re handling your own tent (or not bringing one).

In order to capture the moments of this year’s Knoxville PrideFest events we have need of some really good amateur photographers and a videographer. The videographer will film portions of each performance a PrideFest. The photographers will be responsible for Next to Nothing fashion show, Art Out in the City art auction, the parade, the sponsors’ party, the VIP room, and PrideFest itself. In return, you will be given a t-shirt, a VIP pass, and fairly unrestricted access at the events.

Please note, that all photos and videos will remain your property, however, you will extend to East Tennessee Equality Council an unlimited license to use your photos or videos as we see fit, to make derivative works, to use in future promotions, and display in any media format that we deem useful.

Photographers: experience in low lighting photography is a must. Most of the events are at night in low light and the subjects will most likely be moving. You must have your own digital SLR camera and equipment. Please, no point-and-click photography.

Videographers: experience in low light videography is preferred. You must have your own video device with an optical zoom. Please do not show up with a FlipCam or other device with a digital zoom.
